Rivals.net Launch The Score

Rivals.net, the Chrysalis owned sports site, is building on its reputation within football-related media with the launch of its first magazine The Score.

The magazine, aimed at “passionate football fans”, will be published every six weeks and will have a cover price of £1.50. Content will be “irreverent, unique football content from a fans perspective that will range from serious to funny, thought provoking to outrageous.”

The magazine will be sold by the Rivals Network’s 130 football publishers and will be stocked in newsagents near to football grounds. It will also be sold via subscription and will appear in specialised football outlets across the UK.

CEO of Rivals.net, Marcus Leaver, said: “The Score is brand enhancing and true to the Rivals values that we have built in the last year. We hope that it will become the national football fanzine for everyone who loves football, the length and breadth of the country.”

The launch of the magazine will be supported by extensive marketing activity both on and off-line. Marketing on the Rivals.net network will include 100,000 text messages, 200,000 direct marketing emails and a significant number of team specific newsletters and promotions. Off-line Rivals.net will advertise in associated fanzines and will target football grounds with posters and flyers.

According to ABC Electronic’s latest audit the Rivals.net website was visited by over a million unique users in July (see Rivals.net Scores Over A Million Users).
