Samsung to showcase Smart TV ‘Evolution Kit’ at CES

Samsung will reveal details of their Evolution Kit at this year’s CES event in Las Vegas.

The add-on enhancement kit can be fitted into the back of the South Korean company’s current generation Smart TV’s and will enable them to offer the same content as brand new models for 2013.

The technology has been developed to keep recent Samsung Smart TV models on par with new hardware, relieving consumer’s fears that, in the current technology market, even relatively new technology can quickly become obsolete.

According to the press release, the rectangular device will enable hardware enhancements such as CPU, memory and GPU up to the level of the latest Smart TV so that users can enjoy faster speeds for browsing the Internet and multitask by using apps while watching TV.

In addition, Samsung’s Smart Interaction features, such as voice control and motion control, will be enhanced. Once the Evolution Kit is attached to the slot, 2012 Smart Hub is transformed to 2013 version. Every year, consumers will now be able to enjoy the latest services with Samsung’s Smart TVs.

Samsung is expected to demonstrate how easy it is to upgrade to the new 2013 Smart Hub which shows five different panels where consumers can enjoy a wide range of content including Live TV programs, VODs, apps and Internet.

Sunny Lee, executive vice president of visual display sales and marketing, Samsumg electronics said, Evolution Kit has opened a new era of Smart TV with its innovative concept. Consumers can enjoy the latest features and services every year wothough having to purchase a brand new set.”

Further details will be announced during this week’s CES 2013 conference.
