Ask Jeeves has restructured its senior management team and has appointed Myles Runham to the role of director of strategy.
The new role will see Runham, previously head of research, take on responsibility for the development and implementation of all strategic business planning for Ask.co.uk. He will also manage the delivery of intelligence on marketing trends and competitor activity.
Commenting on the appointment, Adrian Cox chief executive officer at Ask Jeeves UK, said: “Myles has a proven track record of organisational development and the successful implementation of strategy. He will play a key role in driving the strategic development of our business, delivering relevant, intelligent search results.”
Prior to joining Ask Jeeves, Runham was research manager at BBC Online, where he was responsible for the development of corporate strategy. He has also held positions at BBC Worldwide and Anderson Consulting, where he was part of the strategic services division.
The management restructure has also seen the appointment of Shobhit Kakkar as head of research, with responsibility for overseeing the provision of business information and intelligence for the search engine. His key role includes the provision of usage reporting and analysis, brand and consumer research, as well as marketing effectiveness analysis.
Kakkar joined Ask Jeeves in 2001 as advertising research executive, where he worked on commercial performance analysis. Prior to that he held a position as industry analysis at Forrester Research.
Aylin Savkan, vice president of marketing and strategy at Ask Jeeves UK, said: “Shob brings a wealth of experience to the business. He will be responsible for managing the research team, and driving the supply of vital market analytics, crucial to the growth of our business.”
Last month Ask Jeeves launched a major integrated broadcast, print, outdoor and internet advertising campaign to strengthen its position against rival online search engines (see Ask Jeeves Rolls Out New Integrated Ad Campaign).
