Sharewatch: ITV Partners Rise On Positive Sentiment

ITV partners, Carlton and Granada, were seen in focus yesterday, up 2.28% and 2.27% respectively, as bullish sentiment dominated the media market.

On the corporate news-front, it was another subdued day of trading with little direction. However, BSkyB remained in the spotlight after MTV ended its dispute with the satellite broadcaster by signing a new distribution contract. Reports suggest MTV will lose around £5 million from BSkyB in the new contract. The stock was seen down 0.71%.

Broader market sentiment was cheered by unexpectedly strong growth in US retail sales in July and the Federal Reserve’s decision to keep interest rates at a 45 year low.
