Confirmation that an £800,000 writ had been issued by YTTV against CIA over financial wranglings *YTTV Issues Writ Against CIA sent CIA’s normally stable shareprice down during the week. On Monday shares were at their normal price of 143p but by Friday this had dropped to 132.5p. YTTV dropped 3p to 1297p on Tuesday but then stayed at this price all week.
The City reacted favourably to news that United Provincial Newspapers, United News & Media’s regional arm, had sold its Welsh titles to Southern Newspapers *United News & Media Sell Welsh Titles. UNM’s shareprice rose steadily during the first half of the week, reaching 685p on Wednesday before settling back to 677.5p by Friday.
Capital Radio’s purchase of restaurant group My Kinda Town surprised analysts and the media owner’s price fell as a result, even though it posted good financial results at the same time *Capital Radio Profits Up. On Monday it had fallen 16p to 577.5p and remained erratic during the week, reaching a low of 540p on Thursday.
EMAP’s strong financial results on Monday *EMAP Profits Rise To £50.6m were rewarded by a 27.5 rise to 750p, even though the group’s boardroom battles continue, while the move by two STV directors on Thursday to sell a large portion of their shares sent the company’s price down by 18.5 to 705.5p.
