SMG Launches New Cross Media Sales Division

Scottish Media Group is launching a cross-media advertising platform, SMG Access, to provide clients with tailored solutions across its television, radio, cinema outdoor and online properties.
Former Virgin Radio commercial director, Kathryn Jacob, has been appointed managing director of the new venture, which will create bespoke packages that deliver campaigns across SMG’s Scottish and Grampian TV, Virgin Radio, Pearl & Dean and Primesight brands.
Jacob will work alongside former Scottish TV client services and marketing director, Malcolm MacMillan, who has been appointed director of SMG Access. The pair will work together to deliver greater effectiveness and value for clients, as well as furthering client relationships.
Commenting on the launch, Jacob said: “From talking to agencies and clients we know that they want smarter solutions to their needs and that is what SMG Access will deliver. SMG has some fantastic brands, which have reputations for creative campaigns. SMG Access will bring them together and set the industry standard for creative media solutions.”
The new sales team will have offices in both London and Glasgow and will be backed by a support and research team. It will also have access to programme production, promotions, experimental marketing and studio hire. The launch formalises the process, which has already seen SMG deliver cross media campaigns for Coca Cola, Boddingtons, Knorr and Nintendo.
SMG’s chief executive, Andrew Flanagan, added: “The demand from advertisers for a more comprehensive approach to their communications is growing and a third of our advertisers now use all four of our media. The time is right for a bespoke approach from SMG that will satisfy that demand and provide advertisers with a joined up solution to their needs.”
Earlier this year the increasing demand for multi-platform solutions prompted Viacom to combine its retail and outdoor advertising offerings into a new integrated sales service, called Viacom Plus. The new initiative is intended to provide an ‘one stop agency approach’ to marketing packages across Viacom’s entire portfolio of products (see Viacom Launches Integrated Sales Service).
