The response to Classic FM has been “excellent” so far, according to chief executive, John Spearman, speaking yesterday during a visit to the station by National Heritage minister David Mellor.
He comments: “Classic FM is a popular radio station which will bring classical music to a much wider audience and research shows that there is great demand for this. We are already ahead of our revenue targets, which is a major achievement in the current economic climate.”
Mellor, who was interviewed on Classic yesterday about his consideration of a privacy law for the press, says about the station: “Classic FM is an exciting and innovative venture and greatly increases consumer listening choice. The station intends to bring the world’s most beautiful music to a much wider audience and to supply the growing public demand for accessible classical music.”
