Strictly Come Dancing And X Factor Go Head To Head

Strictly Come Dancing Strictly Come Dancing‘s results programme on BBC One on Saturday night gained more adult viewers on average than ITV1’s X Factor results show.

The ballroom dancing comp’s second instalment of the evening managed an average of almost 6.5 million adult viewers (a 30.8% audience share), whilst the X Factor‘s 9pm show took almost 6.3 million (30.1%). The earlier editions of the two talent contests were watched by 6.2 million (35%) and 6.3 million adults (34%) respectively.

Robin Hood on BBC One continued to perform well, luring 6.1 million adult viewers on average in its 7pm half-hour slot, signalling a 30.7% audience share, whilst the National Lottery programme and Casualty helped the channel to have a strong night.

The Lottery took 6.3 million adult viewers, followed by Casualty, which took almost 6.6 million adult viewers, both taking around a 30% viewing share in their timeslots.

Ant And Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway performed well for ITV1, being watched by 6.4 million adult viewers (around 32%), whilst CSI: Crime Scene Investigation on Five was seen by more than two million adults on average, taking a 10% audience share between 9pm and 10pm.

BBC One and ITV1 both performed well last night, with the first part of the last ever Prime Suspect on ITV1 taking a an average figure of 6.9 million adults (33%) compared to the final episode of BBC One’s Jane Eyre, which took 6.3 million (27%).

Antiques Roadshow proved ever popular at 6.30pm, gaining an audience of 5.4 million adults, a 27% viewing share. Coronation Street and The Royal gave ITV1 a boost, managing 8.5 million and 7.4 million adult viewers on average respectively (39% and 33%).
