Sunday Telegraph Launches Special Six Nations Guide

The Sunday Telegraph will this week publish a preview of the forthcoming Six Nations Rugby Tournament and will offer readers a free DVD featuring the greatest moments from the competition.

The 32-page full colour supplement will feature a team by team assessment and a profile of French coach, Bernard Laporte, written by Paul Ackford, former England international and rugby correspondent for the paper.

The Six Nations supplement will also contain a piece by former Welsh international, Iuean Evans, looking ahead with optimism to his home nation’s chances and Nick Mallett, one of the world’s leading coaches, talks about the need for France to improve on their poor showing in Australia.

The special guide and DVD promotion will be supported by a thirty-second television advertisement airing from 5 to 8 February on terrestrial channels ITV, Channel 4 and Five.

Mark Dixon, marketing director at Telegraph Group Limited, said: “Rugby coverage is one of The Sunday Telegraph‘s key strengths. We’re sure that this in-depth and informative preview to the Rugby Six Nations and the DVD will be extremely popular.”

Earlier this year the Telegraph Group secured £500,000 worth of deals with a range of foreign tourist commissions and travel companies to sponsor their own special supplement in the Daily and Sunday Telegraph (see Telegraph Bags Sponsors For Travel Supplements).

The latest ABC results for the six months to December 2003 revealed less than impressive news for the Sunday Telegraph, which saw its circulation decline by 8.2% year on year to 711,267, down from 774,785 in the same period the previous year.
