The Daily Telegraph has secured Clinique Skin Supplies for Men to sponsor a series of weekly feature spreads focusing on streakers, bad refereeing decisions and dodgy facial hair.
The innovative six-figure campaign begins in the Telegraph‘s sport section on 6 September and runs until 4 October with an emphasis on memorable sporting moments and a focus on key products in Clinique’s skincare range.
The features will target the sports section’s core male audience and will build to culminate in an advertisement for Clinique’s entire shaving system. The initial activity will be supported online through a dedicated microsite within the Telegraph’s online presence.
The first advertorial showcases ten of the best streaking moments in sport and promotes Clinique’s Non-Streak Bronzer with the strapline ‘Clinique stops you from streaking’. Readers are encouraged to vote online for their favourite moment from the ten choices provided and can add a witty sign-off to their vote.
Commenting on the promotion, James Mann, head of sport sponsorship at the Telegraph Group, said: “The Daily Telegraph‘s idea offered Clinique a platform to bring its products to life by encouraging the consumer to interact with the features, which all relate to individual products. The humorous creative, together with the Daily Telegraph sport’s huge and loyal male readership, made us the ideal partner for the Clinique for Men campaign.”
Cheryl Hickman, product manager for Clinique, added: “Clinique is very excited about this unique and innovative promotional campaign. Not only does it create and build brand awareness for the Clinique Skin Supplies for Men range but it also assists in bringing alive the strong association with men’s grooming and sport among our core audience of men ABC1 25-45 in a creative and striking way.”
Last month saw the Telegraph boost its sports coverage in the run-up to the Olympic Games in Athens. The newspaper created a preview guide to the event, as well as looking forward to the Premiership on with a one-off supplement featuring articles by Alan Hansen and Henry Winter. The title also featured fixtures, and club-by-club predictions as well as an in-depth look at contenders Manchester United and Chelsea (see Telegraph Bolsters Sports Coverage In Olympic Run-Up).
The Telegraph‘s circulation has remained relatively unchanged lately, dipping by 0.1% in July to just under 905,000.
