Telegraph Signs Wimbledon Ad Deal With Jacobs Creek

The Telegraph Group has signed an advertising deal with Jacob’s Creek that will see the drinks brand sponsor special supplements in the Sunday Telegraph and Daily Telegraph Magazine.

The deal, which is designed to support Jacobs Creek’s sponsorship of the Wimbledon tennis championships, will see an eight-page broadsheet supplement appear in the Sunday Telegraph on 23 June previewing the sporting side of the tournament. A glossy eight-page pull-out promoting the lifestyle elements of Wimbledon will then appear in the Daily Telegraph Magazine on Saturday 29 June.

The initial campaign will be supported by an in-paper promotion giving readers the chance to win tickets for the men’s finals. A poster campaign in newsagents and sampling of the glossy lifestyle pull-out at London Underground stations will also coincide with the main push.

Commenting on the deal, display ad sales director at the Telegraph Group, Chris White-Smith, said: “The association with Jacobs Creek is one that we have been building up over the years. Now, by combining our sports coverage with the leisure environment of the Daily Telegraph Magazine, we can truly deliver something for everyone interested in the whole Wimbledon experience.”

According to the monthly ABC figures for May, the Daily Telegraph, which last month signed a deal with Thus Group (see Daily Telegraph Signs Ad Deal With Thus Group), saw circulation fall 1.8% year on year to 1,001,692, down from 1,020,363 in May 2001.
