Five had a relatively good September, seeing its viewing share rise very slightly year on year, by 0.1 percentage points.
The largest fall, of 1.8 percentage points year on year, came for BBC One.
Five’s viewing share was up slightly, by 0.1 percentage points to 5.1% in September, while Channel 4’s share was down by 0.1 percentage points to 7.4%.
Channel 4 show The Secret Millionaire performed well last month, with the final episode banking more than 3.5 million peak viewers (see The Secret Millionaire Finale Draws In Over 3.5 Million Viewers).
There was a year on year drop for BBC One, falling 1.8 percentage points to 20.8%, while ITV’s viewing share dipped 1.3 percentage points to 18.3%.
BBC Two also suffered a year on year downturn for the month, of 0.3 percentage points, leaving it with a 7.6% viewing share. It enjoyed some success with new series Amazon with Bruce Parry, which pulled in a peak of more than 3.4 million viewers for its first episode (see BBC Two Pulls In Over 3.4 Million Viewers).
Other channels were up 2.9 percentage points year on year, to 40.0%.
Digital homes saw year on year increases in viewing share of 0.4 percentage points for both Five and Channel 4. Five now has a share of 4.8% in digital homes, while Channel 4’s stands at 6.8%.
BBC Two also recorded year on year growth, of 0.2 percentage points, taking its viewing share to 6.7%.
ITV’s share of viewing in digital homes was down by 1.4 percentage points year on year to 17%, while there was a 1.2 percentage point drop for BBC One, leaving its total at 19.2%.
