The Times Drops Price Again

The Times has launched its second price promotion this summer, with today’s price dropping to 10p if a voucher is presented from yesterday’s edition.

News International would not comment on whether this promotion would replace the current cut-price Monday edition, costing 10p instead of 30p, which will cease when the summer officially ends. When the Times first announced its Monday price-cut both the Independent and the Daily Telegraph used voucher promotions in a mini-price war *The Times Cuts Price To 10p and the fact that the Times is now using a voucher scheme to conduct a price cut is something of a climb down. The 10p Monday edition provoked a row with the Audit Bureau of Circulations, which stated that this kind of promotion contravened industry rules due to the fact that newsagents were being allowed to keep the whole 10p. As a result this edition was excluded from ABC figures *Times In Circulation Row and, though an agreement was reached, News International clearly did not relish another dispute.

…The Sunday Mirror Magazine has ceased publication and its Personal supplement has been made from a tabloid into a glossy magazine.
