Three Stations Sanctioned By Authority
The Radio Authority Upheld 3 out of 47 programming complaints, and 21 out of 80 complaints for advertising and sponsorship, in its third quarterly bulletin for 1996.
Sanctions were imposed on three stations; Aire FM (Leeds), Northsound One (Aberdeen) and Leicester Sound FM.
Aire FM breached the Authority’s Programme Code by revealing the identity of a minor in a sex abuse case. Northsound One were sent a warning letter for failing to supply tapes to the Broadcast Standards Council concerning a complaint received earlier in the year. A £2,000 fine was imposed on Leicester Sound for departing from the programme output required in its licence.
