Thumbs Up For Online Cross-Marketing Deals

Online cross-marketing deals are successful in increasing web traffic to the sites involved, according to new research from Hitwise.
Monthly figures from the electronic intelligence company show that a deal between online travel agent Lastminute.com and UK ticket retailer Thetrainline.com, which saw the companies promote each other’s services, led to an increase in web traffic to both sites.
According to Hitwise, Lastminute.com has climbed 37 places in the overall weekly rankings since April as a result of the deal, and Thetrainline.com has risen 21 places since 15 June.

The data also shows that mobile telecommunications company O2 had one of the “top performing” websites during the second quarter of this year, with eBay.co.uk, MSN.co.uk and BBC.co.uk also performing strongly between April and June.
