The Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) has confirmed the appointment of the two main suppliers for its new consumer centric multi-media survey, IPA Touchpoints, with TNS Media undertaking the main survey work and RSMB handling the integration process.
TouchPoints is a groundbreaking project giving users their first overview of all consumer media usage by acting as a hub for the integration of the current industry currencies and other media surveys.
Commenting on the appointment, Lynne Robinson, IPA’s research director, said: “We are delighted the project is now underway. We have received tremendous support from the industry and we are looking forward to delivering the ground breaking project before the year end.”
The project is the brainchild of the IPA Media Futures Group and has ten media owners founding partners, AOL, BBC, Chrysalis, JC Decaux, The Guardian, ITV, News International, SMG, TMS and Wannadoo.
Jennie Beck, head of TNS Media added: “The industry has been waiting a long time for a genuinely cross-platform approach to measuring media behaviour and involvement. The TouchPoints concept has the potential to revolutionise media planning, not just in the UK, but globally, and TNS Media is really pleased to be playing an important part in its creation.”
Steve Wilcox, RSMB managing director continued: “RSMB has 20 years experience of data integration and modelling for media planning applications and TouchPoints is one of the most exciting developments in which we have been involved. We’re delighted to be working with the IPA on this important project.”
Earlier this month, the IPA announced the appointment of Moray MacLennan as the new chairman of the IPA Client Services Committee. MacLennan stated that the role would see him concentrate on ensuring the committee continues to remain focussed on what clients need from the IPA (see IPA Appoints New Client Services Committee Chairman).
