Translucis Brings Big Brother To Bars And Clubs

Translucis has secured a broadcast deal with Channel 4’s Big Brother that will see the reality TV show screened in bars and clubs across the country via the company’s Magnetic digital media network.

Under the deal, live footage extracts of the show will be broadcast every thirty minutes throughout the evening of transmission, with live feed programming offering viewers housemate profiles and snippets of the latest gossip.

Translucis’ new Magnix technology also means that viewers in bars and clubs will be able to register their eviction nominations via text message. The new technology allows broadcasters and advertisers to create and run multiple messages, schedule messages in advance and create individual messages to be shown via the digital media network at particular parts of the day.

Sue Aitken, marketing and development director at Translucis, said: “We are extremely excited to be a part of the media phenomenon that is Big Brother and hope to be able to bring the programme to a much wider audience.”

Big Brother‘s marketing director, Katie Hayes, added: “The Translucis partnership with Big Brother is an ideal fit. The programme enjoys a large franchise amongst Magnetic’s target audience. This coincides with this year’s push to bring the programme alive outside of the channel in public locations which demonstrates its ability to create social currency – as talked about television.”

Channel 4, which is yet to confirm the initial transmission date for this year’s Big Brother, is thought to have been working with other digital media operators to broadcast the show over giant plasma screens in shopping centres, railway stations and other outdoor locations across the country.
