Trinity Mirror’s Wildman kicks off new digital revenue drive

James Wildman, Trinity Mirror’s new chief revenue officer of its National Advertising Sales Agency, begins his role this week with a fresh focus on digital revenues.

The ex-Yahoo managing director has responsibility for “significantly accelerating” commercial growth across all platforms, with the newspaper, magazine and digital publisher hoping Wildman’s experience will particularly help boost profits for its online platforms.

In his role at Yahoo, Wildman oversaw all go-to-market activities and operations for consumers, advertisers and partners in the UK and was responsible for managing and enhancing Yahoo’s digital media business and increasing user engagement.

Prior to joining Yahoo!, Wildman was managing director of Virgin Media sales house, IDS. He has more than fifteen years’ experience working in senior roles in the media industry which also includes GMTV and Universal Studios Networks.

The National Advertising Sales Agency (Nasa), currently represents five national and 228 regional brands from Trinity Mirror and other leading publishers. The combination of its print, online and mobile products offers advertisers over 74 million ‘opportunities to see’ each week.

“James is an exceptional commercial leader and we are delighted he is joining the Group,” said Simon Fox, Trinity Mirror’s chief executive. “As we look to rapidly grow our digital revenues his considerable multi-platform experience will be a real asset to our business.”

Wildman will be joining a commercially focused panel discussion at MediaTel’s Future of National Newspapers event on September 29. He will be joined by a number of other senior figures from the sector to discuss the different business models, data and ad opportunities across the newspaper groups.
