Analysis of the latest TV revenues for November reveals another encouraging period for UK terrestrial TV, which experienced a notable year on year increase in revenue during the month. Channel Five, which is rumoured to be considering Flextech’s Jane Lighting as a replacement for Dawn Airey (see Flextech Boss Tipped To Succeed Airey At Channel Five), saw the most significant improvement, with revenue rising year on year. Channel 4 also performed well, with a 12% increase in revenue during the month and ITV1, which still appears to be bearing the brunt of the ongoing advertising downturn (see Advertisers Cut ITV Spend Following Drop In Ratings), managed a 5.8% improvement during the same period. GMTV saw the only negative movement, with revenue slipping year on year to 7,000,000.

ITV Franchise Revenue

November was a month of mixed fortunes for the ITV franchises, with Carlton and Yorkshire/North East experiencing the most significant year on year declines. At the other end of the scale, Central improved its share by the most notable margin, followed by LWT, which expanded its slice of the pie by 0.98% year on year during November. Central and Carlton continued to command the largest portion of ITV’s revenue.

Cost Per Thousand

Cost per thousands rose virtually across the board during November, with the exception of Channel 4, which experienced a 7.5% year on year decline in the Housewives With Children category. Channel Five saw the most significant gains in the Men and ABC1 Adults category. ITV saw a notable 8.3% year on year rise in both the Women and Housewives With Children category and Channel 4’s decline in the Housewives With Children category was off-set by a rise in the Men category.

Satellite saw the most significant upward movement in the Women and Housewives categories. Channel 4 and Channel Five experienced notable gains in the Housewives With Children category, which increased by 21.2% and 20.6% for the respective broadcasters during November.
