BBC One’s Tourette’s: I Swear I Can’t Help It secured the highest ratings during the all-important peak-hour last night with more than 4.1 million viewers.
The hour-long documentary about Tourette’s sufferers John Davidson and Greg Storey pulled in over 3.7 million average viewers and a 16.7% audience share between 9pm and 10pm, and helped BBC One to secure a prime time peak run ahead of ITV1’s Live UEFA Champions League coverage.
BBC One’s comedy series Life of Riley returned with a high of more than 5.8 million viewers between 7.30pm and 8pm, followed by MasterChef, which picked up over 4.6 million peak viewers and a 20.4% share between 8pm and 9pm.
The channel also held on to the peak share later on in the evening with the BBC News at Ten, Damages and Film 2010 with Jonathan Ross.
ITV1’s football coverage, meanwhile, scored a high of 3.7 million peak viewers and a 13.5% average audience share between 7.30pm and 10pm. However, Emmerdale pulled in over 6.7 million peak viewers for the channel between 7pm and 7.30pm.
Elsewhere, BBC Two’s new three-part documentary Inside John Lewis continued with 2.7 million viewers and a 12.3% average share between 9pm and 10pm, while Five’s NCIS attracted 2.2 million viewers and a 9.8% share.
Over on Channel 4, Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA was overshadowed by Relocation, Relocation, which pulled in a high of 2.9 million viewers to the chef’s 1.7 million peak viewers.
