TV Viewing Summary – W/E 24/11/96
The addition of Sunday’s fourth episode of Coronation Street has not helped ITV to dominate this week’s top thirty programmes list. The episode which featured the return of hairdresser Denise Osbourne attracted an audience of 15.67 million viewers.
Only Wednesday’s episode of Coronation Street attracted less viewers and this was because of the move to 9.30pm to accommodate Manchester United’s match against Juventus. The game between United and European Cup holders Juventus was watched by 11.06 million viewers. The match, which ended in a 1-0 defeat for United, had total share of viewing of 47%.
Two films made this week’s thirty programmes they were: Beethoven, which had 12.29 million viewers and Crocodile Dundee 2. The final episode in the second series of the American comedy series Friends attracted 5.26 million viewers, comfortably ahead of its nearest rival Tuesday’s edition of Countdown.
