VBS Launches Youth Awareness Drive To Boost Voting
![]()
Viacom Brand Solutions is launching a campaign on behalf of the Electoral Commission to promote political awareness across its flagship MTV channel.
The national campaign will launch on 15 November with the stapline ‘Turn opinion into action’. It will feature a number of creative executions specially designed by the Viacom Brand Solutions team.
The initiative includes a competition to encourage MTV viewers and website users to express creatively through any medium they choose how they would turn their political ideas and beliefs into action. Entries can be in the form of a song, poem, sculpture, graphics or any other creative medium.
Participants will have the chance to win a range of prizes including work experience at the MTV on-air graphics department or with a London advertising agency.
Viacom Brand Solutions will devise and produce a 40-second execution and a 20-second reminder spot to promote the competition on MTV. It will also create a microsite and on-line entry mechanic.
Commenting on the initiative, Paul Curtis, of Viacom Brand Solutions, said: “By choosing MTV as their partners and Viacom Brand Solutions for their creative, the Electoral Commission will benefit from the channel’s special relationship with its youthful target audience and from Viacom Brand Solutions’ creative expertise in speaking effectively to this audience.”
Viacom Brand Solutions recently launched its first online multinational advertising deal for Lego, which will run across Nickelodeon’s range of websites (see VBS Launches First Multinational Online Ad Deal).
