The government has delayed the awaited white paper on privacy and the press, amid disagreements among ministers and the complexity of issues involved.
Peter Brooke has decided to wait until responses to the Lord Chancellor’s green paper on privacy have been assessed: responses to this must be in by October 15. The government white paper is not now likely to appear until next year.
