Xfm has become the first official radio partner to the Orange Rising Star Award at the Orange British Academy Film Awards.
As part of the partnership Xfm’s breakfast show presenter Alex Zane has been asked to sit on the panel of jurors, who met on Friday November 23 to cast their final votes for the nominees of next year’s award.
It is the only award to be voted for by the public at The Orange British Academy Film Awards in 2008; and votes can be made online at www.orange.co.uk/bafta from 8th January, when the five nominees will be announced.
The Award recognises actors who have recently broken into mainstream cinema with eye catching performances in at least one feature length film during the award year (1 January – 31 December 2007).
Xfm marketing director Richard Mintz said: “We’re really excited to have been asked by Orange to be the official radio partner for the Orange Rising Star Award as this is one of the most prestigious awards ceremonies in the country.
“This particular award is perfect for us as Xfm is known as a champion of new talent, traditionally music and now film, so we feel there’s a natural affinity.”
As part of the partnership Xfm will also be running a competition to give one of its listeners the chance to win a pair of ‘money cant buy’ tickets to the awards where they will be able to experience the full VIP experience.
