YTTV Plays Down Laser Row

YTTV Plays Down Laser Row

Jeff Brownley, director of group corporate affairs at Yorkshire-Tyne Tees Television, this morning played down the row that is threatening relations between Yorkshire and its sales house Laser.

As reported on *YTTV Hits £13.3m Profit, chairman Ward Thomas criticised Laser’s performance when announcing YTTV’s interim results, saying that ad revenue had been disappointing and pressure would be exerted on Laser to improve its performance. Mr Brownley however denied there was any chance that the two companies would sever relations, saying that the YTTV/Laser contract would run until 1998, its date for review.

He did point out that as part of this contract YTTV’s ITV revenue share should be at least 10.9% by the end of the year and, with share for the first half being 10.22%, Laser had a lot of work to do. He said that Laser had been “underperforming and must start overperforming” in order to meet expected targets.
