5.2M Adults Flock To A Room With A View

Itv Logo Sunday night saw ITV1’s A Room With A View outperform the new drama from Stephen Poliakoff, Joe’s Palace, on BBC One.

The adaptation of the EM Forster novel had a peak of 5.2 million adult viewers in its 9pm timeslot, a 22.2% share of the audience.

Joe’s Palace, on BBC One at 9pm, had a peak audience of 4.3 million adult viewers, an 18.3% share of the audience.

Over on BBC Two at 9pm was Long Way Down, a documentary following Ewan McGregor and pal Charlie Boorman as they travel by motorcycle from John O’Groats to Cape Town.

The hour long show had a peak audience of 4.2 million adults (an 18% share), with an average of four million adults sticking with it for its duration.

On Saturday, ITV1’s The X Factor, on for two hours from 6.30pm and then at 9pm with a results show, had a strong evening but was beaten by BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The first instalment of The X Factor had a peak audience of eight million adult viewers (a 42.3% share of the audience), whilst the results show, on for half an hour at 9pm, had a peak of 5.6 million adults (a 26.9% share).

However, Strictly Come Dancing, on BBC One for an hour from 6pm, had a peak audience of nine million adults (a 46.6% share).

The Strictly Come Dancing results show, on Sunday evening at 7pm for half an hour, had a peak of 8.4 million adults (a 37.5% share).
