56% of Britons rely on technology while on the move

According to a new survey from Kinetic, 56% of Britons say that they rely on technology while on the move. In August 2009, the figure stood at 44%.

18 – 24 year olds agreed the most with the statement “technology is important in my life when I’m out and about, on the move”, with 45% agreeing this year. By comparison, 26% agreed in 2009 – a rise of 72%.

The largest increase was in 45 – 54 year olds. 32% agreed that they agreed with the statement, compared to 14% the year before. This is a significant increase of 121%.

More men agreed with the statement more than women, with 32% and 27% agreeing respectively

Other key finding include:

  • 24% of respondents had a Twitter account, but 66% of those who did said that they had not not used it in a while.
  • 74% of respondents had a Facebook account, and 81% of those who did said that they use it regularly.
  • 29% of people believe mobile technology has made them less reliant on using their original workplace.
  • 20% said their mobile phone is more important than their PC or laptop.
  • 18% of respondents said that they didn’t mind receiving advertising on their mobile phones, if the message is relevant to their immediate environment
