Virgin Media’s TiVo has launched the TiVo Mini, a companion device that allows users to access TiVo content on another TV in the same household.

Users will be able to use apps, watch live and recorded TV and stream video on demand content, as well as having access to additional streaming platforms such as YouTube, Hulu Plus and Spotify.

As for novelty use, users will be able to play games via the inbuilt gaming component, as well as having the option to view photos on television screens through integrated applications such as Photobucket and Google Picasa.

The TiVo Mini device will work throughout homes that have a TiVo four-tuner DVR by using a DVR tuner to enable control and access of content. This means that users will be able to begin watching something on their TiVo device in one room and finish it in another on the TiVo Mini, if so desired.

“The TiVo Mini answers the demand for a simplified whole-home viewing experience and a more cost-effective solution than putting another DVR or cable set-top box in another room,” said Jim Denney, general manager and vice president of product marketing for TiVo.

“With so many viewing options in a compact form factor, TiVo Mini makes it easier to get more value from your existing home entertainment set up by further enabling you to watch what you want, where you want it.”
