Samsung Galaxy S4 given Xbox style game accessory

In a bid to increase the drive for using smartphones as gaming platforms, Samsung will release a games controller accessory to accompany its latest device.

The news comes after the unveiling of Samsung’s long-awaited Galaxy S4 last week, showcasing a unique smart-scroll feature and 13 megapixel camera.

Resembling the Xbox 360 controller – though supposedly not modelled on it – the accessory will allow S4 devices to slot in and connect via Bluetooth. Gamers can then use twin analogue joysticks, a D-pad and four action buttons to control games on their mobile without using the touchscreen, which can recognise fingertips without them directly touching the screen up to 2cm away.

The gaming accessory is nothing more than a prototype right now, however it is expected to be released some time this April.
