67% of the UK’s top 40 media buying companies are more confident about business in 1993 than they were in January of last year, according to a recent survey by Logie Bradshaw Media (LBM) on advertising prospects for the next 12 months.
Advertising agencies made up the bulk of those interviewed and emerged more positive for the future than media independents. In terms of spend, 72% of the independents forecasted that they would spend more this year than last with only 7% predicting a fall.
Results from the survey estimate that interviewees will spend 6.7% more in 1993, with agencies increasing by an average of 7.4%. 69% said that they believed billings would rise this year and that average increase has been estimated at 11.2%.
TV advertising will increase by 7.2% this year, according to results, radio will go up by 2.1% and cinema by 2.3%. Posters are estimated to see a decrease of 1.1% and national newspapers will also fall by 0.7%.
Overall the survey showed favourable results for the coming year with indications that an end could be in sight for the advertising slump.
