The Prime Minister, John Major, is planning to sue the left-wing magazine, the New Statesman and Society following the printing of an article accusing him of having an affair. Mr Major also plans to issue a writ against Scally- wag, a satirical magazine similar to Private Eye. The PM intends to pay his own legal fees for the case, the first of its kind for a Prime Minister in No. 10.
