ITV’s Double Sponsorship Score
ITV announced today that it has sealed sponsorship deals with Mars and Weetabix.
Snickers is to sponsor On The Ball, ITV’s new football magazine TV series. Snickers is apparently ‘known for its youthful sporty brand image’, and spokesperson Gordon Storey said of the deal: “We are really pleased to have secured such a valuable broadcast opportunity for the Snickers brand. It will play a key role within the brand’s communications strategy which centres around football.”
The agreement was negotiated by the team at TSMS for ITV, and Drum PHD on behalf of Mars.
The second deal was scored by ITV’s Gladiators programme, with Ready Brek. Gladiators, now in its seventh series, is one of the station’s most successful TV programmes, regularly attracting audiences in excess of 7 million. The agreement was negotiated by Sally Blackburn at Laser for ITV, and Drum PHD acted on behalf of Ready Brek.
Ready Brek is the third brand to link itself with the show – after Kelloggs Frosties and Del Monte (current). Sally Blackburn, commercial manager at Laser, said of the agreement: “Gladiators has proved to be an ideal broadcast platform for brands seeking to develop awareness in the youth market and associations with fitness, fun and energy. We are delighted that Ready Brek have taken up the sponsorship and look forward to a beneficial partnership over the course of the coming series.”
