Website of the Week – Peugeot

http://www.peugeot.co.uk/

The Peugeot website, designed by UK web developer Brann Interactive, is a lesson in how to produce a first-class website.

It is a big site, containing all the information one could possibly desire when thinking about buying a Peugeot: specifications of all the models (down to colours available and type of trim); where to find your nearest Peugeot dealer; a used cars section; information on company cars (fuel costs, vehicle funding); how to get insurance; special offers and financing arrangements; and a corporate section with financial news, recruitment and a “contact” section.

Not only does it look good, containing high-quality photos and smart colours, it also maximises the internet to its full potential. What really stands out is that for most of the sections there are interactive facilities: for example, type in your postcode and the details of your nearest showroom appear. Brochures and quotes for cars can all be ordered on-line. An online form is also available for contacting Peugeot with requests for information not on the site.

It was slightly disappointing, however, that there was no interactive facility for the insurance section. It would have been good if one could have filled a form in and seen Peugeot’s insurance quotes. As it stands, you have to phone up for a quote.

The other niggle with this site is that it likes opening up lots of extra browsers to display information. Not only does this clog the desktop up, it also makes it difficult to navigate around the site. The fact that the browsers open up in extremely small windows is also frustrating as it means lots of scrolling is involved.

Apart from these two problems, however, the site is well put-together and is a must for anyone looking to buy a Peugeot.
