US PS4 sales surpass 1 million in less than 24 hours

Sony has announced that the launch of its PlayStation 4 resulted in more than 1 million units being sold during the first 24 hours of becoming available in the US and Canada.

The highly-anticipated device – “built for gamers and inspired by developers” – provides enhanced graphics and speed, alongside integrated social features, and will available in Europe and Latin America at the end of the month.

“PS4 was designed with an unwavering commitment to gamers, and we are thrilled that consumer reaction has been so phenomenal,” said Andrew House, president and group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment.

“Sales remain very strong in North America, and we expect continued enthusiasm as we launch the PlayStation 4 in Europe and Latin America on November 29.”
