Yahoo!, ITV, the Guardian and Sky Media were just a handful of the winners from last night’s IPA Media Owner Awards – rewarding the industry’s most innovative and effective activity and individuals from the world of online media.
From a shortlist of 58, 16 awards and 13 commendations were presented at the glitzy Supernova pop-up venue in London’s Embankment Gardens.
Media-bods from accross the industry were treated to fine dining and gallons of wine as comedian Rob Deering took to the stage to announce this year’s winners.
Best Media Owner was awarded to InSkin Media, while Sky Media walked away with Most Improved Media Owner and Most Improved at Cross-Media. Say Media scooped both Best at Innovation and Best Partner, while the Guardian won Most Improved Partnership and Telegraph.co.uk Best at Cross-Media.
Most Innovative Technology was awarded to both Qriously for AdVox, while Bauer Media scooped Best Cross Media Campaign for their work on Heat4.
Yahoo! was crowned the winner of Best Online Campaign for their ‘Life of Pi’ film about a boy who survives a shipwreck, with the Guardian and Microsoft Advertising claiming the runner-up spots.
Best Un-featured Media Owner was handed to Global Radio for their complete overhaul of their systems and the introduction of brand new commercial initiatives, with Rocket Fuel and ESI Media both highly commended.
The judging panel for the submission-based awards was chaired by Pete Robins and included members of the IPA Digital Media Group as well as two client judges; Jane Savage, head of digital and e-commerce and Johnson & Johnson and Dan Radford, head of digital marketing strategy at The Walt Disney Company.
“As Chairman of Judges for these awards, I have been really pleased by the forward thinking and effective campaigns that this year’s winners have executed,” said Robins.
“I have also been hugely impressed with the winners of the individual awards; their enthusiasm for doing inventive work shone through, coupled with their ability to balance their clients’ needs has led to some great, mutually beneficial outcomes. Judging these awards shows, again, just how much really good work is happening in our industry.”
