UKTV delivers record annual ratings

UKTV has reported record annual ratings for 2013 after seeing a huge boost in viewing figures.

The company, which is home to channel brands including Dave and Gold, achieved its highest ever total audience share in 2013 (4.67%) – up 5% on 2012, according to BARB data – and saw its share of commercial impacts grow to 8.2%.

Viewing numbers for Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day also broke all previous ratings records, with viewing increasing by 86% year on year across all of UKTV’s video on-demand platforms.

Entertainment channel Dave saw viewing rise by 20%, while Gold celebrated having the highest share of viewing across all non-terrestrial channels in Pay TV on Christmas Day.

“UKTV has enjoyed three successive years of viewership growth and achieving over 8.2% of all commercial impacts in the UK last year puts our business at terrestrial levels of viewership, reaching 42 million viewers every month,” said Darren Childs, UKTV chief executive.

“Audiences are rewarding UKTV’s compelling and creative programmes and brands with record ratings. This is fantastic news for our platform partners and for advertisers.”
