70% say mobile is primary way they access Twitter

80% of Twitter users use a mobile device to access the site, with seven in ten saying that mobile is the primary way they access the platform, according to research from Nielsen.

The study found that mobile-first users are 1.2 times more likely to engage daily than average Twitter users, with half checking Twitter while commuting, one in three while hanging out with friends and one in four while at live events.

Mobile Twitter users were also found to be highly engaged with brands, with 62% following a brand, 25% using Twitter while shopping and 75% on the platform while watching TV.

In terms of purchase intent, 50% visited a brand website via Twitter and 30% went on to buy the brand/product.
