Game of Thrones most pirated show across the globe

As US and UK premieres hit the screens, Game of Thrones leads The Walking Dead as the most illegally downloaded TV show internationally in the early part of 2014, according to new data from Irdeto.

Torrents collected and tracked from over 100 top Torrent Index sites across the globe between January and February 2014 reveal that illegal downloads of Game of Thrones reached over 1.4 million – almost 50% more than any other title.

Illegal downloads of Game of Thrones were most prevalent in Brazil and France, while illegal downloads for The Walking Dead – the second most pirated show with 915,000 downloads – were particularly popular in Brazil and the US.

Other highly-pirated shows included Homeland, Breaking Bad and Dexter.
