June saw 260 million requests to BBC iPlayer, up 9% year on year, according to the BBC’s latest performance pack.
There were 8.7 million average daily requests in June – 700,000 more than the same time last year – with one-off BBC Three drama Murdered by my Boyfriend taking the top spot for most popular programme with 2 million requests.
The proportion of requests from tablets and computers remained relatively stable at just under 30% each, while mobile accounted for 19% and connected TVs 3%.
Traditional TV viewing remained far higher than iPlayer use, peaking at 24.2 million at 9pm across the month, while iPlayer peaked a little later at 10pm with an average of 546,000 requests.
In terms of live viewing, the World Cup match between Brazil and Chile generated over one million requests overall, 600,000 of which were live; while over on radio there were more than 1.5 million requests for the England v Sri Lanka test match.
Alongside the cricket, Chris Evans’ Breakfast Show on Radio 2 was popular in June, as was Radio 4 comedy, The News Quiz.
