Cosmopolitan re-launches “mobile-first” website

Women’s glossy Cosmopolitan has re-launched its website with a “mobile-first” design, as the title looks to fully optimise its content for the 54% of readers that access it via a mobile device.

Cosmopolitan.co.uk has also been developed to prioritise social media, making it easier to share content with “enhanced” social share buttons, easy navigation and a “clean streamlined layout”.

Designed to “maximise audience engagement”, the new user interface will present content via a feed, while a commenting system will pull readers’ conversations about the content directly from Facebook to give them the opportunity to be involved in real-time.

The site will include both banner and native advertising.

“In today’s fast-changing media landscape, we have to be instant in our editorial thinking and brand outreach – we need to be where she is at all times and capture her attention by providing content she truly values,” said Ella Dolphin, Cosmopolitan‘s publishing director.

“The redesigned site does just that by bringing a sense of immediacy to the brand, providing our editorial team with instant feedback and analytics, and putting us in constant conversation with our consumer.”

In the past six months, traffic to Cosmopolitan.co.uk has increased by 37% to 4.3 million visits a month, while Facebook page likes have increased 143% and Twitter followers by 20% to 250,000.
