ABC Online October: Mail and Indy break traffic records

The latest ABC results for online newspapers saw both MailOnline and Independent online break all-time traffic high records; however, the majority of other news sites recorded either declines or little change.

Up 2.4% period on period (PoP), MailOnline recorded a record 12.07 million unique daily users in October, while a 1.1% PoP boost saw Independent online surpass 2.42 million.

There was less good news for Metro’s and Telegraph’s online news portals, which were down -15% PoP (-219,000) and -13.5% PoP (-535,000), respectively.

Standard.co.uk, Trinity Mirror Nationals and guardian.co.uk also all recoded declines in average unique daily browsers over the month.

A little way down the rankings, Teesside Evening Gazette managed to boost its audience by almost 63,000 (up 12.3% PoP), while an 8.5% PoP rise saw www.liverpoolecho.co.uk add an extra 22,700.
