Following its AGM yesterday, the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) has decided on the new members for its Council. Competition for places on the Council was strong this year, particularly in the business press sector where nine candidates competed for just three seats (see Publishers Vie For Place On ABC Council). Similarly, the three regional press and consumer magazines seats were contested by six and four candidates respectively.
The successful candidates for the consumer magazines, business press, national newspapers and regional newspapers seats were as follows:
Council members will be responsible for deciding how the ABC will develop and maintain its survey methodology and coverage over the next two years. The new Council’s first meeting is on 12 January 2000. Commenting on the successful candidates, ABC chief executive Simon Devitt says: “It’s good to see that the balance of representation has been maintained in the new Council and that all members’ interests, large and small, continue to be represented.”
