Judges announced for the Media Research Awards 2016

The judging panel for the 2016 Media Research Awards has today been announced, with new and widely respected names from across the industry joining the line-up after last year’s inaugural ceremony.

Denise Turner, insight director at Newsworks, Kristin Bayliss , associate director of audience and measurement solutions, SMV Group, and David Brennan, founder of Media Native, will join Richard Shotton, head of insight at ZenithOptimedia, alongside last year’s expert panel – including Brian Jacobs, founder director, Enreach; Lynne Robinson, research director, IPA; Catherine Blizzard, director of marketing and audiences, BBC World Service and David Pidgeon, editor, Mediatel Newsline.

Richard Marks, director of Research the Media, will act as chair of the judges.

Hosted by Mediatel, the Media Research Awards recognise and celebrate those organisations and individuals that are driving innovation and development in UK media research.

The need to measure and understand media and advertising effectiveness in today’s broadband world means that researchers are challenged to develop new research methods and reporting. Media researchers are able to generate and use data from a wider variety of sources demonstrating the continued creativity, impact and vibrancy of UK media research.

The winners will be revealed at a prestigious and social awards lunch on Thursday, 11 February 2016 at The Banking Hall, EC3V. It will be a celebration of the very best of those who have excelled in the field of media research.

Last year Sky Media took the Grand Prix prize along with Best Media Research Tracking Project for Sky AdSmart, with other winners including the BBC for Best Social Media Project and Thinkbox taking the Research Team of The Year award.

“Last year’s awards were such a success that we have expanded the range of categories and also the number of judges,” said Richard Marks. “This will allow us to draw on the expert opinions of the judges most relevant to each of the awards.”

The qualifying period for the awards is research that was delivered to the client between September 2014 and August 2015. Entries are welcome from UK research agencies, media agencies and owners, industry bodies or sent in as joint entries.
