Emap Creates Multi-Media Travel Brand

Emap Elan is preparing to launch a new multi-media travel brand called Escape Routes. The brand, to be aimed primarily at women, will take the form of a magazine, a website and a phone booking service and is due to roll out in September with a first year marketing budget of £1 million.

Sharon Ring, previously editor of OK Magazine, is to edit the Escape Routes magazine, which will be a monthly publication aiming to ‘address the needs of a new lifestyle audience as well as servicing those needs’.

Escape Routes will feature travel, destination guides, expert advice, beauty and fashion, and is aiming for a circulation of between 50,000 and 70,000. Publisher Jo McCarthy commented: “The world is getting smaller and there has been a fundamental shift in attitude towards travel and leisure. ‘The death of distance’ and the rise of travel as a ‘badge of lifestyle’ means that never before has travel been so affordable and democratised. It has also never been easier to communicate across the world – at a click of a computer button.”

The branded website will be created in partnership with Emap Online.
