Carlton Online Launches First Above-The-Line Campaign For Destination Sites

Carlton Online is to launch an above-the-line advertising campaign to promote its network of consumer websites. Beginning on 20 July, the simplyfood.co.uk, popcorn.co.uk and jamba.co.uk sites will be the first consumer destination websites to be promoted by an above-the-line campaign.

The TV ads will initially promote the jamba.co.uk games and competitions website; further TV advertising, along with tube and radio campaigns, will follow across the summer for the Popcorn and SimplyFood sites. All the promotions will also include a significant online spend by Carlton.

The four week TV campaign will run across Carlton, Central and West Country Television, as well as Carlton’s digital channels, Carlton Cinema, Carlton World and Carlton Select.

Commenting on the promotions, Philip Rooke, acting managing director at Carlton Online, said: “Research shows that 21% of over 15s access the internet every week. We hope that such a large above-the-line campaign will take our sites from a niche market to a wider audience.” Rooke is currently heading Carlton Online following the departure of Carol Dukes, who recently left the company to work on an internet start-up venture (see Carlton Online MD Departs To Start Internet Group).
