Web traffic to Metro Online jumped 25.3% in October to 1.2 million, after suffering a -34% fall the month before.
Sun+, which is set to scrap its paywall at the end of this month, also performed well, with online visits up 16% compared with September to a little under 1.3 million.
The majority of other online national news sites performed relatively poorly, with average unique daily browsers down -5.3% for the Independent, -4.9% for Trinity Mirror Nationals, -3% for Telegraph Online and -2.6% for the Guardian.
Mail Online, which continues to be the most-visited online news site, lost a fairly insignificant number of daily visitors from its 13.2 million strong audience after a -0.9% decline over the month.
