Chrysalis Launches UK’s First Personalised Music Radio Service

Chrysalis Group claimed a first today when it unveiled its long-awaited web venture, Ride The Tiger (see Chrysalis Turns Corner Into Profit). With its new domain name, puremix.com is the UK’s first personalised multi-channel internet radio.
The venture was born after extensive research into the listening habits and music tastes of Britain. The team carried out the UK’s largest ever music survey and, discovering the diversity of taste among British people, it created puremix, a radio station offering a tailored choice of music.
With real time Internet Jockey’s including Arthur Baker, Barry White, and Paul Oakenfold as well as Melody Maker editor Mark Sutherland, users are able to shape their music streams from a range of channels through direct feedback. On top of this, listeners can buy their choice of music online and access lifestyle and entertainment news content.
Ande MacPherson, co-founder of the site, said: “Music, and people who have passion for music, are why we’re here. The good news is that the UK public have a diverse range of music tastes that extend far beyond the traditional FM radio diet of non-stop Robbie and Britney. Puremix will offer music lovers across the UK an unparalleled breadth of music embracing the fringe along with the mainstream.”
The group is partnering with Bertelsmann-backed online store, BOL, online holiday and travel portal Expedia, and will be providing the online music offering for the Sony Playstation website. As a revenue model it will resemble that of commercial radio and the site contains a range of banner advertising, sponsorship, promotional and e-commerce opportunities for advertisers.
