ABC March: Sun sees web traffic soar

The Sun recorded an impressive 10.2% increase in its web traffic in March, equating to an extra 208,000 visitors a day.

Trinity Mirror Nationals also performed well, up 6.2% to 4.5 million, while The Independent, which became a digital-only newsbrand at the end of March, recorded a healthy 5.5% increase – making it the third best-performing national title of the month.

Meanwhile, the Telegraph’s online news site was down -3.6% over the month, losing 156,500 unique daily browsers, while a small -0.6% decline lost theguardian.com a little over 51,000.

However, it is still the second most popular news site by far, attracting more than 8.8 million visitors a day.

MailOnline saw no change to its 14.4 million strong audience, with the only significant declines coming from regional titles Daily Post Wales (-14.2%) and Birmingham Mail (-9.6%).
