According to the latest data from the NRS, the national newspaper sector has declined by 6% year on year for the six months to October, with all but one title- the Financial Times showing an annual decline in readership.
The FT’s performance amounted to a 4.4% increase. This number of readers is small change compared to the losses at The Times, however, which dropped just over 20% of its readers in the year on year analysis, still suffering as a result of its format revamp in March.
The Times saw the largest falls, but the Star and the Independent on Sunday shed readers in droves as well- 14.5% for the Star and 15.8% for the IoS.
