Future To Roll Out Rich Media Banners Across Network
![]()
A new interactive form of banner advertising is to be rolled out across Future Network sites during the next few months, allowing rich media commercials and a degree of interactivity which the company hope will encourage click-throughs.
Currently being tested on the intermusic.com website, the Active Flash Banners (AFBs) allow interactivity such as the click buttons which allow visitors to intermusic.com to enter competitions, or a fast forward button which allows viewers to ‘channel surf’ and view different flash commercials. Video and animation footage are also supported on the format. Future claim that rich media banners achieve more click-throughs than normal gif banners and believe that the functionality of these ads will intrigue users enough to want to navigate more commercials.
Future is planning to feature AFBs on its main portal site, which is due to launch during the next two weeks. Advertisers should be able to book AFB ads across multiple networks by the first quarter of next year, with a creative build service being made available for customers who don’t have the resources create flash advertising. Other music sites are also thought to be testing the format on their sites at the moment.
